Northeast Center for Healthy Communities

The Northeast Center for Healthy Communities (NCHC) is a program of the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center and is funded through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services. We are 1 of 6 Regional Centers for Healthy Communities in Massachusetts, working in partnership to build and sustain healthy communities. Regional Center staff educate and assist communities with a variety of services that help them learn, develop, plan, implement and evaluate prevention and healthy communities initiatives.

NCHC Mission
The NCHC achieves this mission by providing capacity building, technical support, and consultative services to partnerships, coalitions and networks throughout the region.

NCHC Services and Programs
The NCHC provides services in the following areas:

  • Consultation and technical support to substance abuse prevention coalitions and healthy communities initiatives through the Northeast Prevention Institute and on-going technical assistance;
  • Capacity building and support to substance abuse and other health promotion coalitions in positive youth development and youth-adult collaboration through the Northeast Youth Leadership Institute;
  • Support to CHNA 10, 11, 12, 13/14, and 16 in sustaining health partnerships for improve health;
  • Tobacco prevention, education, and cessation services through the Greater Lawrence Tobacco Free Partnership, the 84Crew and through other prevention of youth access to tobacco efforts;
  • Assessment, Strategic Planning, Evaluation, Coaching, and Training Services through the ASPECTS branch of the NCHC;
  • Coordination of the Lawrence Oral Health Initiative;
  • Providing resources through the NCHC on-line library.
